Thank you for showing an interest in joining Mersey Marauders FC.
We are Merseyside’s only LGBT+ football team open to people of all sexuality, ability, gender and age. The club is affiliated the Liverpool County Football Association.
The Marauders create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our members creating opportunities to play football and socialise.
As well as weekly training we compete in a variety of formats and leagues across the UK, including the Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN).
We provide opportunities to play across the UK on away trips as well as plenty of home games within Liverpool. Whether your motivation is football, fitness or meeting friends give us a try.
Join us for our fun filled and dedicated training every week. We train between 8pm to 9 or 9:30 at St John Bosco Arts College every Tuesday with some weeks on Wednesday or Thursday. Please make sure you contact us to confirm dates and times before coming along. Your first session is free, turn up ten to fifteen minutes early at St John Bosco and we will introduce you to the team and the committee.
The location and times can sometimes change so check our social media channels for info, we can be found on both Twitter and Instagram by searching for @merseymfc. We can also be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MerseyMaraudersFootballClub/
How do I get there?
To get to St. John Bosco Arts College on Storrington Avenue via car the post code is L11 9AT.
For other locations you can find the bus timetables and information here: Bus Routes.
What Equipment do I need?
We play on a new state of the art 4G pitches, so please wear appropriate footwear (No studs please, AstroTurf trainers and moulds/blades are acceptable). There is no requirement to wear shin pads but it is recommended. Other than that any old training gear is appropriate.
What if I haven’t played in a while or I am sure of my level of ability?
Mersey Marauders have players of different abilities and welcome all. The best thing is to give it a try in a supportive environment. Some players like to train but don’t wish to compete in games which is fine. Those who wish to play in games can put themselves forward for squad selection which is chosen by the team manager. This is based on a range of factors and the level of competition faced.
How much does in Cost?
Your first session is free and after that it is £5 a week for training or if you want to pay by standing it is £15 a month. Game costs are £5 each and travel and accommodation prices are provided in advance. We always look to keep our costs as low as possible for our members, offer subsidy where possible and support anyone in financial hardship e.g. students or unemployed.
What about the Social side?
Playing team sports is a great way to make friends. We are sponsored by the Lisbon Bar and often go after training and games for food/drinks. Our members enjoy many annual trips to other LGBT+ clubs across Britain.
